Uncertainty quantification and spatial modelling for resource and wildfire decisions

Dr. Jeff Boisvert, U of A professor and co-director of the Centre for Computational Geostatistics, applies geostatistics and AI to risk-aware decisions in mining, petroleum, wildfire and emergency response. His current project “Drones as First Responders” builds human-centred AI and real-time mapping to speed 911 and wildfire actions; three fire departments launched Canada’s first DFR programs. Backed by 30+ industry partners, his team advances subsurface uncertainty modelling to optimize resource development and reduce environmental impact. He also serves as a paid-on-call firefighter.
