Plans for 2025

Organizing the ASTech Awards is alot of hard work, so at Technology Alberta we are so grateful to have our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, work in partnership with Alberta’s innovation community!
This is Technology Alberta’s 4th year as the operating partner of the ASTech Awards (the 36th Annual Alberta Science and Technology Leadership Awards), and thanks to all of our partners in government, industry, academia and entrepreneurship, we are now taking ASTech celebrations to 3 locations throughout the year – covering 3 focus areas that build our provincial innovation community
1) Focus on Talent & Knowledge: The ASTech Opening Ceremonies and Innovation Showcase, takes place at Academic institutions which prioritize innovation, inclusivity and youth engagement. Thank you all for your support of past years sold-out events at MacEwan University, and University of Calgary – and we look forward to seeing you this year – September 19, 2025 at the University of Alberta, in the newest oldest smartest building in Alberta – the University Commons.2) Focus on CommunityThe 36th ASTech Awards Gala and Innovation Showcase, focuses on celebrating achievement, and providing strategic networking for companies and researchers to build the future. Innovation finalists take the opportunity to acknowledge their team and family members, as well as the government-funders, academic and industry partners, and innovation-service providers that contributed to this point on their journey. This annual opportunity this year will be at the TELUS Spark Centre in Calgary on Friday, November 7. (Buy your tickets here)

3) Focus on Collaboration across Communities: This new ASTech Regional Innovation Spotlight -Celebration and Collaboration Showcase is being developed in real-time to shine a provincial spotlight on entrepreneurs and innovation across the province – at their home region. Like all ASTech events, everyone is invited – and with a provincial framework in place thanks to the Government of Alberta,  Alberta Innovates supported Regional Innovation Networksthe distributed Community Futures teams and the outstanding facilities we have at post-secondaries across Alberta.- we have alot to showcase!  The February 2025 event in Grande Prairie was one to remember – taking place in the iconic Philip Currie Dinosaur Museum, during the annual Growing the North Conference. Stay tuned – we hope to announce this date and location of this next Regional Spotlight event at the ASTech Awards Gala, and are very pleased to have so many regions in Alberta interested in hosting this event with us.
