AI-Driven Innovations in Lower Limb Rehabilitation
Dr. Amin Komeili, Associate Professor of Biomedical & Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary, is a digital-health leader. He developed the Adaptive Pedalling Assistive Device (APAD) which is an AI-enhanced, motorized ergometer with biosensors that personalizes resistance per leg and enables real-time monitoring and telerehab. Backed by $2.8M in funding, his work improves joint-model diagnosis and simulation fidelity, reduces care costs, and he mentors diverse and Indigenous students to advance equity in STEM.
