Microwave Methane Pyrolysis for Clean and Distributed Hydrogen

Aurora Hydrogen is commercializing low-cost, distributed, water-free, CO₂-free hydrogen via microwave methane pyrolysis which converts natural gas to H₂ and solid carbon. First proven by U of T and U of A engineers, the modular system avoids major new pipelines or grid upgrades, leverages existing gas infrastructure, and uses ~80% less electricity than electrolysis with lower overall GHG impact. No plasma or catalysts required. A 150 kg H₂/day demo is operating in Fort Saskatchewan, with 2, 10, and 30 t/day units in development.
