Dr. James Hogan, Professor of Mechanical Engineering (University of Alberta), is founding Director of CARDD-Tech, advancing materials, communications, robotics, quantum tech, and AI for Canada’s defence, aerospace, and energy sectors. He has led $20M+ in projects, trained 100+ graduate students and postdocs, and delivered innovations, from ceramic-metal armor to autonomous navigation, deployed by DRDC, General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin. With 100+ papers and 50+ partners, CARDD-Tech has generated $200M+ in activity and 300+ jobs, strengthening Alberta’s sovereign innovation.
