DNADetect: A biosensor for early biomarker detection in neurodegenerative disease diagnosis
Sana is a biomolecular engineering researcher and Wet Lab Lead for UCalgary’s Biomedical Engineering Research and Innovation Team (BMERIT). She led DNADetect which is a nanoscale biosensor that detects neurodegenerative disease biomarkers, advancing earlier diagnosis of dementia and Alzheimer’s. She secured funding and sponsorships that took the team to the 2024 International Biomolecular Design Competition (Kyushu, Japan), earning bronze, and won MindFuel’s 2024 Tech Futures People’s Choice. Now an advisor, she mentors teammates toward commercialization.
