AI Innovations for Early Dementia Detection and Care

Dr. Sayeh Bayat turns Calgary into a living lab, using AI and digital tech to help people at risk of or living with dementia, depression and other brain disorders stay safe, active and engaged. An assistant professor (since 2021) at UCalgary’s Schulich School of Engineering, she holds joint appointments in Geomatics and Biomedical Engineering and is a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and O’Brien Institute for Public Health. Following a family member’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, she translates everyday behaviors, such as driving and walking, into real-time monitoring and care.
