Dr. Li Cheng, Professor of Engineering at the University of Alberta and Director of the Vision and Learning Laboratory, is a leader in digital humans and computer vision. He has authored 200+ peer-reviewed papers and earned major honors, including Best Paper Runner-Up at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Computer Vision Foundation Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition in 2021 and a 2023 workshop award at that conference. His team pioneered text-based human-motion generation. He is an associate editor for top journals and an elected 2025–2027 member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Signal Processing Society’s Multimedia Signal Processing and Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing technical committees.
