Dr. Julie L. Drolet, Professor of Social Work (University of Calgary), advances justice and equity in disaster recovery. She founded the Social Work and Disaster (SWAD) Network, aligned with UN SDG 13, to build capacity and share resources globally. Her project, “Digital Disaster Documents,” for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), develops a system to digitize essential records so households can prevent loss, improve access, and speed recovery. Co-designed with diverse communities for inclusivity and equity, it strengthens preparedness, supports practitioners, and builds community resilience.
