Dr. Henry Leung, Schulich Industry Research Chair and Professor (Electrical & Software Engineering, UCalgary), advances complex neural networks, sensor fusion, and small-object detection. Leader of the Autonomous Systems & Intelligent Sensing Lab, he has 400+ papers and 20 patents, is an IEEE Fellow, and a 2024 Killam Research Excellence awardee. His AI sensing supports DND air/maritime surveillance and pipeline, water, and environmental monitoring, plus Calgary’s smart-city noise system. He leads a pan-Canadian DND IDEaS Micronet.
