Dr. Aggrey Mwesigye, Associate Professor of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary, treats the Earth as a thermal battery and advances solar and geothermal systems that make clean energy viable and affordable in Canada’s cold, variable climate. Since joining Schulich in 2021 he has secured $3M in funding, won the 2024 Early Career Research Excellence Award and 2023 teaching/supervision honours, and earned TFEC-2024 Best Paper. Working with Alberta industry, he translates research into cold-weather solutions and mentors the next generation.
