University Of Calgary Professor Demonstrates Leadership In Field Of Mathematics
At the age of 29, Dr. Rita Aggarwala has already established herself as a leader in her field of research. She has been on a fast track since she accelerated through high school and university. She joined the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Calgary as an assistant professor at the age of 24, was promoted to associate professor at the age of 27 and was granted tenure at the age of 28.
Remarkable Resume
In her short, productive career, she has published 15 refereed journal articles, book chapters and proceedings, distributed to top statistical journals. Recently, she co-authored a book aimed at statistical practitioners in research and industry, who have a need for sophisticated scientific tools to analyze complex data in the development of high-tech products and services.
Impressive Achievements
She has taken a strong leadership role at University of Calgary in developing the statistical consulting laboratory known as StatCaR. This laboratory provides a training opportunity for graduate students as well as a valuable research resource for scientists and businesses throughout the community who have a need for high quality statistical design and analysis.
In addition to her scientific and academic accomplishments, Dr. Aggarwala is involved in running, squash, mountain biking, kayaking and Ultimate — a competitive blend of soccer and Frisbee.
