Environmental Engineering with Indigenous Communities for Water Solutions
Dr. Chelsea Benally, an Indigenous environmental engineer and Assistant Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, advances nature-based water treatment to improve water security in remote and underserved communities. Her community-partnered program centers Indigenous leadership and knowledge. She co-leads I-STEAM Pathways; serves on U of A’s Indigenous Advisory Council and Research Strategies Task Force; mentors IBET PhD scholars; and advises the Indigenous Students in STEM Association.
